There're going to be some changes made around here...

As we've discussed in class, there are some changes to the way we receive and turn in all class work. Hope the changes are for the better. All work is to be turned in by edmodo.com, unless otherwise requested. The way work is saved will remain the same. I will not accept any more work by email. I will put a weekly summary of homework, a reminder if you will, on the grade 10 English blog on Thursdays of every week as a means of review for you and your parents. Parents can receive assignments at the same time as you the students, via edmodo, if they like....so let me know if any of your parents want a real time notice of homework assignments.

Vocabulary will be posted here on the "blog" as before. Look for a new vocabulary list in the coming days, God willing. Other notices or general information will also go up here on the blog. That's it for now, see you in class!

G10-04 & G10-09 Homework

At the bottom of page 52 of the student book, exercise 4 you are asked to reply politely to the six sentences. Instead, what I want you to do is underline the adjective in each sentence and at the end of that sentence, write an appropriate antonym. We will form the sentences in class. See you then!

Project Work for G10-04 & G10-09

Gentlemen, we are now beginning our project work for LC3. This will be done daily, with certain tasks you will have to perform and turn in to me at the appointed time for each task. Today's task is in two parts. The first part each individual student is responsible for completing; he must answer the three questions on the attached document and turn it in by 3pm Tuesday. Answer the questions in narrative or paragraph form. Do not number your sentences and remember to answer in complete sentences.

The second part of the project is to be done with members of your group and each group must submit one complete paper. That must be done by 3pm Monday. You will have one period to do this group work on Monday. I suggest dusting off your GoogleDocs addresses and doing it that way, but how you do it as a group is up to you.

I have sent the document to the hotspot members of your classroom groups. They will give you the document in class by each group member's drop box during class today. I want you to work on the second part, the group part first since it is the assignment that must be turned in tomorrow! As usual, if you have any questions, please see me in class.

G10-04 & G10-09 Homework

I hope you all had a restful three day weekend. As promised your homework is in two parts. The first part, the written homework is due tomorrow, Sunday. It is on using comparative and superlative adjectives and adverbs. There is a word in parenthesis you must use correctly in the blanks. We've gone over this type of exercise before so you shouldn't have any problems.
The second assignment is the recorded reading assignment, entitled 'Think You're a Good Driver', that must be turned in by 7:30am on Tuesday. It's just like the first assignment of this kind that we did where you read and record the text below using the MS Word "tools" menu. If you've forgotten how to do it, please ask me to go over it in class. The text is about 250 words which is about the same length as the first one and it should take about the same amount of time to read.
Click on the links below, then go to the "Download" tab; open both documents using MS Word. For the reading exercise convert the document using the "Notebook Layout View" tab on the bottom left hand side of the document. If you've got any questions please ask during class time. See you then!

G10-04 & G10-09 Have we got new vocabulary for you!

Folks since this week has been designated a regular study week, we're going to resume with our vocabulary lessons. Your assignment is to know the vocabulary words below, their meanings (synonyms), their antonyms, parts of speech and how to use them in a sentence. In the case where some of them are nouns, I would like you to include an illustration (picture) with their meaning or the synonym. I will allow one period in class to do all of this, so get out your google docs addresses and get ready to share and work with your team mates. As usual, 'if any of you get caught using these words incorrectly the teacher will disavow any knowledge'......err...sorry that's something from "Mission Impossible", I meant to say, if you have any questions, you can ask them during class. Here are the words

Memory

Memory is history recorded in our brain, memory is a painter, it paints pictures of the past and of the day.
Learning is the process by which we create memories and the mechanisms for retrieving those memories when needed either consciously or unconsciously. Memory is the key. Therefore, gentlemen, it's worth spending time on a review of some of the basics of memory theory and how you can apply it to your studying. So, as we begin a new term, let's practise by reviewing our daily tasks at school. Let's begin the new term with a newlook and working smarter and harder.
10.3 and 10.8
